Animal Symbolism: Raccoon
It's the time of year when raccoons make their presence known! I had an up close encounter with one two nights ago. As I sat on my couch late in the evening a little bustling animal caught my eye outside on the deck. I looked out the french doors thinking I'd see the neighborhood cat that makes his nightly rounds, but, nope, it was a large and very curious raccoon! The animal made its way to the door, stood on hind legs and rested its front paws on the glass door. For several seconds it peered into the room, scoping out a food source I imagine. Slowly it let itself down and bustled away in the same direction it had come from.
In Shamanistic symbolism raccoon can mean any one of the following:
*In spite of the doubts you may hold, you actually have all the resources you need to solve the current problem in your life.
*There is deception going on around you that isn't quite clear. Listen to your intuition to figure out what to do and how to solve it.
*Use this time to be curious and open ended with your exploration rather than goal oriented.
*Pay close attention to signs and omens from your ancestors and crossed over loved ones.
*Remain emotionally and mentally flexible for the next few days because the events that unfold will require you to adapt quickly to the change in circumstances.
Call on the power of raccoon for any of these situations:
*When you require manual dexterity.
*When you feel bored and are eager for adventure.
*When you are faced with a challenging situation that requires emotional flexibility.
*When you have an upcoming social event that requires you to be brave.
*When you need to assert yourself with wit and agility.
