The Ethics of Intuitives
As a person who is intuitive; a psychic, a medium and a channel, I am privy to a lot of information. When I'm not working with a client or teaching a class sometimes my energy reading abilities are still in use.
It's true that these abilities are not as active all the time, but that is a post for another time. In this post I refer to the times when the third eye is open and information is flowing steadily. It can happen for me with friends, family, or total strangers. Sometimes I pick information up for my hairdresser simply because I'm sitting in his chair, physically close to him and I'm in a relaxed state. It may happen at the movies when the person next to me sends strong energy that I can feel and understand. Sometimes I sense intense energy simply standing next to a person in a line in a store.
This is where ethics come into play. Unless the person I'm picking up information for asks me to read for them, I have no business telling them I know their business. Although I don't mean to, I am prying into their personal life.
Even if the information I pick up is not great, I still have no right to say something. For example, say I'm standing in line behind a man at the pharmacy and I pick up that he has throat cancer. Unless he has asked me to find out why he is feeling unwell I do not have the right to tell him what I'm sensing. He may know already and wants to keep it private. He may not know yet and doesn't want to hear news that would make him feel awful. People sometimes don't want to know. Sometimes they are not in a frame of mind to hear what is coming through. They may be in a fragile energy state. They may be angry. They may be happy and by my interrupting their day, it can be spoiled. I don't know what they need in that moment because they have not communicated to me in any way.
So, my job is to keep quiet, focus on my day, my actions, my thoughts, and move on. The integrity I carry for this line of work is so strong that I would not want to jeopardize it in any way. Imagine if every intuitive/psychic/medium spouted off to you all day long what they sensed from you. It would get annoying being interrupted while you were doing your errands and routine tasks! When I encounter information for people, good or not so good, and they haven't asked for it I send a blessing to them silently in my mind and I move on.
I once followed a psychic medium on Twitter who posted all the messages they got for people throughout their day. I don't know if they had permission from people to share this publicly. I doubted it since they were posting dozens of tweets a day. I felt like I was spying on people's personal lives and violating their privacy. I stopped following that psychic medium.
When I work with clients and class participants I make it clear in the beginning that I'm able to pick up information on them. And, I ask permission to share what I'm picking up after they know this.
When you are looking for an energy reading from someone please take this into account. How does the person conduct themselves in public? On their social media feeds? In writing? In conversation with you? Do they share names of other clients when telling stories - red flag! They may be the most gifted energy reader of all time. And, if they don't have ethical boundaries I argue that you should find someone else to work with.
Ethical boundaries make people feel comfortable, secure, trustful and safe. When people feel safe and give permission to have their energy read, they are in control. The reading will go more smoothly and more will be gleaned.
